Summary: | Starting from three conflicts -- the Alsatian steel industry in 1967, Lip in 1973 and Longwy 1979 -- the article proposes to account for the transformations that took place in making use of a form of protest: the occupation of premises. By focusing the analysis on the practical and symbolic role of occupation, we can observe how competing groups or actors attempted to reappropriate and reinvent a method of action, and thereby give more thought to the use of the concept of a repertory of action.
