Description
Summary:Bacillus subtilis is a spore-forming bacterium that can persist for years in a resistant state. When faced with starvation, bacteria instead enter the complex developmental pathway of spore formation. A new study tests the programmed cell death response in Bacillus subtilis both genetically and physiologically, which supports a new way of looking at bacterial cultures as multicellur organisms.
