EFFECT OF WELD LINES ON INJECTION MOULDED FIBREGLASS REINFORCED STRUCTURAL FOAMS. I - MORPHOLOGY, SHEAR AND TENSILE PROPERTIES
The effects of weld lines and density reduction on the morphology and mechanical properties of injection moulded glass fibre-reinforced PP structural foams were investigated. The results are discussed in terms of cell size, cell density, skin thickness, tensile properties and shear properties. Mecha...

Summary: | The effects of weld lines and density reduction on the morphology and mechanical properties of injection moulded glass fibre-reinforced PP structural foams were investigated. The results are discussed in terms of cell size, cell density, skin thickness, tensile properties and shear properties. Mechanical properties were found to decrease with density reduction and the main factor controlling mechanical response was identified as fibre orientation along the length of the samples. 21 refs. |
