Summary: | A very easy and quick approach to gain insight into the linear as well as the nonlinear behavior of a device under test is the best linear approximation (BLA). The BLA is a linearized model of a nonlinear system and consists of a linearized transfer function combined with a noise source that describes the stochastic nonlinear contributions. Recently, the theory of the BLA has been extended to the out-of-band BLA. This paper describes a measurement technique to determine the out-of-band BLA for microwave systems. The theory is proven on amplifier measurements. |
