Summary:Details of the inspection statistics for 1993 have now been released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The statistics have been compiled, as required, by the EC Directive on Official Control of Foodstuffs. Data are available which have been published separately for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, in addition to the combined data for the whole UK. The combined data is presented. The statistics are derived from data submitted to MAFF by all the 589 authorities involved in food law enforcement work in the UK for the period January-December 1993.
