Summary: | Sanitation workers are involved in an occupation with many physical stresses and are continuously exposed to hazardous conditions. In a study controlled with closely matched relatives, it was found that the incidence of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, duodenal ulcer, bronchitis, backache and inguinal hernia were higher among retired sanitation workers. It is probable that these illnesses are related to conditions under which they worked. |
