Description
Summary:The Herschel/PACS photometer is the largest bolometer camera in operation for submillimeter astronomy in space. CEA Saclay and LETI have developed these bolometers using innovative techniques, such as silicon micro-machining, resonant absorption or CMOS multiplexing. For the next generation space missions an improvement in sensitivity by 2 orders of magnitude is required. We are considering different options to reach sensitivities as low as 10(-20) W/Hz(1/2). Based on our PACS experience, we are exploring the possibility to use semiconducting sensors at very low temperature (50 mK or below). The TES option is also considered as well as the possibility to couple antennas with very small thermal sensors. We present here preliminary results of simulations and analysis for these solutions.
