Studies on the inhibitory effect of paint raw materials on cellulolytic enzymes present in waterborne paint
Raw materials used in the manufacture of waterborne paint were examined for their effect on cellulolytic enzymes, as judged by release of reducing sugars from carboxymethyl cellulose, measured by the 3,5-dinitrosalicyclic acid method. Five of the 22 materials tested, i.e. Emultex VV536, Microcarb MC...

Summary: | Raw materials used in the manufacture of waterborne paint were examined for their effect on cellulolytic enzymes, as judged by release of reducing sugars from carboxymethyl cellulose, measured by the 3,5-dinitrosalicyclic acid method. Five of the 22 materials tested, i.e. Emultex VV536, Microcarb MC40, Speswhite China Clay, Talc AT1 and Tilcom AT23, inhibited cellulase activity by 25–80% when used at concentrations similar to those applied in waterborne paint. However, Emultex VV536, Speswhite China Clay, Talc AT1, and Tilcom AT23 incorporated in paint were ineffective in inhibiting these enzymes. |
