Description
Summary:Recommendations for nutritional management of normal full-term infants, as compiled by the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Iowa, are detailed. For the first six months, breastfeeding is preferred. Certain nutrient supplements should be given to breastfed infants and infants feed formulas. Beikost should not be introduced until 5 or 6 months of age. Infants should be permitted to stop eating at the earliest indication of willingness to stop. Cereals should be fed daily from 5 or 6 months of age until 18 months. Other foods should be introduced gradually.
