Summary: | The application of computer-aided synthesis techniques to the design of aircraft control laws is reviewed and illustrated with graphs, tables, and block diagrams. The case studies presented are an improved lateral autopilot for the B-767, a longitudinal control law for an advanced fuel-efficient transport aircraft, and a highly reliable backup system for the latter. The computer technique is shown to produce generally better control laws than classical methods, and at significantly reduced cost. (T.K.) |
