Summary: | Thermoelastic contact problems involving layers arise in a variety of engineering applications such as disk brakes, clutches and unidirectional solidification of castings. Mathematical problems involving the unilateral contact relations include variables such as contact pressure, gap between the surfaces and the temperature profile in the layer, whose relationship needs to be determined. Equations are derived to formulate the general thermoelastic contact problem for the layer in terms of boundary values. |
