Summary:The "Dneprospetsstal'" Plant has conducted a study of the causes of surface defects on rolled products of steel EI94. The study entailed determination of the effect of individual steelmaking and teeming parameters, as well as heating and rolling practices. Seams and cracks are formed on the surface of 140-mm squares in the first groove on the fourth pass when the high-manganese EI94 is rolled on the 950 mill.
