New furnaces for continuos normalization of electric-welded pipe
The Vyksa Metallurgical Plant has mastered and is successfully using new multizone furnaces for normalizing electric-welded straight-seamed 203-530-mm-diameter pipes with a 3.5-10-mm wall thickness. Summary: | The Vyksa Metallurgical Plant has mastered and is successfully using new multizone furnaces for normalizing electric-welded straight-seamed 203-530-mm-diameter pipes with a 3.5-10-mm wall thickness. The pipes are welded by high frequency (10-kHz) current. The furnaces were built by Ukrgipromez from a VNITI (All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Pipes) design. The equipment was supplied by the "Elektrostal'tyazhmash" industrial association. Furnaces of this type are widely used to heat-treat seamless tubing. Zone furnaces are also employed to normalize electric-welded straight-seamed pipes in the lines of 159-529-mm and 73-219-mm mills (at the Novomoskovsk and Severskii pipe plants respectively). |
