Summary: | A study was conducted on two premixed low pressure flames using acetylene as fuel. In one case about 25% chlorine was added. The flames were stabilized horizontally on a burner. The burner mouth consisted of brass plate perforated by orifices, 1 mm in diameter. The soot was collected on the end plate of the combustion chamber, on the burner surface and at the side of the burner. The specimens were directly glued on copper electron microscopy grids to avoid non-representative sampling. Preliminary investigations was performed using an electron microscope, followed by energy filtering transmission microscopy. |
