Description
Summary:Samples of 16 species of edible vegetables grown in Tarragona Province, Spain, were analyzed for copper, zinc, and chromium concentrations. The highest mean Zn and Cu levels were found in green bean, potato, radish root, artichoke, and chard; radish root and spinach contained the highest Cr concentrations. The Cu and Zn levels documented agree well with published values, but the Cr concentrations were relatively higher. The daily intake of these metals through edible vegetables from the study area poses no health hazard for consumers.
