Description
Summary:The corrosion behaviour of mild steel in 1M HCl was studied using 4-(N,N-dimethylaminobenzilidine)-3-mercapto-6-methyl-1,2,4-triazin ( 4H)-5-one (DAMMT) as inhibitor using the conventional weight loss method, potentiodynamic polarisation studies(Tafel), linear polarisation studies (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies (EIS) adsorption studies and quantum chemical calculations. The effect of inhibitor concentrations, inhibition time, corrosion rate and surface coverage are investigated. The corrosion rate and other parameters evaluated for different inhibitor concentrations and the probable mechanism is proposed. The results showed that DAMMT posses excellent inhibition effect towards MS and the compound act as a mixed type inhibitor. The inhibitor molecules were first adsorbed on the MS surface and blocking the reaction sites available for acid attack.
