Description
Summary:The frequency of independent tumors was ascertained in 869 women with histologically confirmed carcinoma of the corpus uteri seen over a 40‐year period. The numbers of independent tumors occurring subsequent to the endometrial carcinoma were compared with the numbers expected on the basis of age‐specific rates for Connecticut. An excess number of cases of cancer of the breast occurred in women who were 60 or more years old at the time of diagnosis of the endometrial cancer. The excess was limited to the 10‐year period following the uterine cancer. The excess of mammary cancer cases is probably not explained alone by the tendency of both mammary and endometrial cancer to occur in women of low fertility. There were also more cases of cancer of the lung and bladder and of the lymphomas than expected, but the numbers in these categories were small.
