Description
Summary:The etiology of most systemic rheumatic diseases is unknown, which is perhaps sufficient reason for suspecting a relationship to new agents as they are described. However, certain features of some rheumatic diseases indicate that a relationship to a retrovirus such as the HTLV may be more than just a passing possibility. Accordingly, the authors tested sera from a group of patients with rheumatic diseases for evidence of antibody to prototype strains of the 3 known HTLV.
