Summary:Health monitoring systems have at times been expanded-eg, to cover prevalence of female genital mutilation, child abuse, and health of vulnerable children placed in residential care. All of the countries we have reviewed have undertaken activities to promote awareness of the CRC through education and capacity building of professional groups and through campaigns on public-health issues such as HIV/AIDS and female genital mutilation.
