Detection of Acute Cholecystitis on Tc-99m RBC Scintiscans for Hemangioma

A 26-year-old black woman with sickle cell trait was found to have gallstones and hyperechoic hepatic lesions, possibly hemangiomas, on ultrasound. Tc-99m RBC imaging showed increased gallbladder activity, probably related to cholecystitis.
