Summary:This article is a rejoinder to the National Perspective (Strickland, 1993) which outlined the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist's response to the Role and use of support personnel in the rehabilitation disciplines. (Hagler, et al, 1993). An invitation is extended to the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists to re-examine its position statement on the training, use and supervision of support personnel. The authors consider that the Association's position is based on opinion and misinterpretation, and while they believe that opinions must be respected and that misinterpretations will occur, they challenge these misinterpretations and provide data to refute some of the opinions.
