Description
Summary:Determination of PCBs in environmental samples is fraught with many problems. Perchlorination and dechlorination techniques are frequently used as cleanup procedures, but these are often unreliable. A nickel boride dechlorination method was demonstrated whereby a precipitate of nickel boride is produced in situ. This congener-specific analytical technique was demonstrated in 15 experiments employing capillary gas chromatography. More accurate and meaningful data are generated with this approach, compared with conventional dechlorination methods.
