Real-time comparison of pressure-predicted and Doppler-measured jet velocities distal to left-sided obstructions throughout systole

Summary: | We have demonstrated a new real-time technique that allows direct and accurate comparison throughout the entire systolic portion of the cardiac cycle of instantaneous jet velocities predicted by pressure differences across obstructions with those simultaneously measured by Doppler echocardiography. Peak Doppler velocities closely approximate velocities predicted by high-fidelity pressure measurements. Differences may be explained by omission of proximal velocities and the presence of pressure recovery. |
