Vertebral Osteomyelitis Caused by Haemophilus influenzae

The authors report two cases, preceded by infections of the respiratory tract, of adult vertebral osteomyelitis caused by H. influenzae type b. These cases illustrate some of the difficulties encountered in establishing a correct microbiologic diagnosis of vertebral osteomyelitis.
