Adrenomedullary chromaffin cells as a model to study the neurobiology of ascorbic acid: from monooxygenation to neuromodulation

In the past ten years, the authors have investigated both the intra- and extracellular functions of ascorbic acid using adrenomedullary chromaffin cells, an excellent model for the study of presynaptic events. They will review in this report some of their studies and more recent findings regarding t...

Description
Summary:In the past ten years, the authors have investigated both the intra- and extracellular functions of ascorbic acid using adrenomedullary chromaffin cells, an excellent model for the study of presynaptic events. They will review in this report some of their studies and more recent findings regarding the roles of ascorbic acid in neurotransmitter synthesis and the mechanism(s) of its secretion from adrenomedullary chromaffin cells.
