Summary: | A 78-year-old woman with a 2-year history of early satiety and vague abdominal pain underwent hepatobiliary scanning for evaluation of possible sphincter of Oddi or gallbladder dysfunction. The scan unexpectedly demonstrated activity within the thorax on delayed imaging, which suggested intrathoracic herniation of bowel or stomach. A follow-up upper gastrointestinal series confirmed a paraesophageal hernia. This case report illustrates a most unusual finding on hepatobiliary scanning that helped to diagnose paraesophageal hernia. |
