Summary:Successful treatment of meningitis and septicemia caused by Listeria monocytogenes with intravenous trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole has previously been reported. This case report of a 13-year-old boy with meningitis caused by Listeria monocytogenes documents complete cure with 6 days of intravenously administered trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole followed by orally administered trimethoprim as monotherapy.
