Food Waste is Reduced when Elementary-School Children Have Recess before Lunch

Getlinger et al conducted a study of first through third graders to determine whether scheduling lunch after recess, instead of before recess, would result in less plate waste. Results indicate that children who have recess before lunch are less distracted and are ready to eat.
