Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide and Other Peptides as Neuromodulators of Colonic Motility in the Guinea Pig

It is now well established that prevertebral ganglia participate in peripheral reflex activity connecting two regions of the same organ (i.e., the colo-colonic inhibitory reflex) and regions of different organs (i.e., the gastroduodenal inhibitory reflex).
