Description
Summary:A 56-year-old woman had partial necrosis of her liver after a hypotensive episode due to duodenal bleeding. Renal and cardiac damage and mental status changes were also noted. Liver enzymes, normal one week previously, became sharply elevated (lactate dehydrogenase 45,000 u/l, normal80-225 u/l; aspartate aminotransferase 11,270 u/l, normal3-45 u/l; and alanine aminotransferase 3807 u/l, normal3-45 u/l). Injection of 740 MBq at 99m-Tc MDP, after the hypotensive episode, revealed sharp uptake within the ischemic liver. Fifteen days after admission, the patient had clinically recovered and normalized all laboratory values.
