Description
Summary:Campylobacter pylori has been implicated as an etiological factor in gastritis and peptic ulcer diseases. The presence of these bacilli on the gastric mucosa is closely associated with histologically demonstrable gastritis. Twenty-five isolates of Campylobacter pylori were cultured from antral biopsy specimens obtained during routine endoscopy of patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms (duodenal ulcer, bulbitis, gastritis, pyloritis). Pentacaine displayed moderate activity against Campylobacter pylori (MIC90 64 mg/l).
