Accurate pair-anisotropy models out of a set of input experimental moments via a novel non-linear inversion method

Summary: | We report a useful multiparameter Newton–Raphson method, yielding accurate pair‐anisotropy models from a set of low‐order experimental spectral moments. The method is applied to the depolarized binary collision‐induced scattering spectrum of argon. Its reliability is established through comparison between the (Ar)2 experimental spectrum, previously recorded by our group over a broad wavenumber domain, and quantum‐mechanical profiles whose inputs are various pair‐anisotropy models.
