Coronary Flow Reserve Assessed by Transesophageal Echocardiography Identifies Early Restenosis of the Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery Angioplasty

Summary: | Although an increase in diastolic coronary flow velocity can be detected by transesophageal echocardiography 72 hours after both successful and unsuccessful left anterior coronary artery angioplasty, a significant improvement in coronary flow reserve is observed only in patients with a successful procedure. Transesophageal echocardiography-derived coronary flow reserve can identify early restenosis and thus serve as an index of the outcome of the procedure. |
