Summary: | The septum pellucidum, being a part of the limbic system, plays an important role in the formation of emotional and motivational behavioral reactions. The central position of the septum pellucidum in the brain determines its numerous connections with cortical and subcortical formations. The fibers of structures projecting in the septum pellucidum have a distinct topographic distribution in its individual nuclei. Based on a distinct distribution of afferents in nuclei of the septum pellucidum, the authors considered it necessary to compare the synaptic cytoarchitecture of the medial and lateral nuclei. |
