Lumbopleural Cerebrospinal Fluid Shunt Assessment With Tc-99m DTPA Scintigraphy

Lumbopleural shunts are occasionally required in the treatment of hydrocephalus when more commonly used shunts fail. Patency of a lumbopleural shunt can be confirmed with scintigraphy after subarachnoid instillation of Tc-99m DTPA by lumbar puncture, as illustrated in the presented case.
