Summary: | There are an increasing number of conditions that lead to false-positive I-131 whole body scans. We report the detection of I-131 in a parotid gland duct ectasia. I-131 that was secreted into the lumen of the ectasia was probably retained there. The condition should be included with I-131 elimination in body fluids. There was no I-131 uptake after excision of the ectasia, and unnecessary I-131 therapy was avoided. |
