Summary:Macbeth Award winner, Matrix R discoverer and psychophysicist Joseph Cohen died on Aug 18, 1995 just before the completion of his lifetime research in vision science. Cohen started his work in vision science as a Susan Linn Sage Fellow at the Cornell University where he became interested in vision and tristimulus representations of color mixtures. He developed the Matrix R formula when he related the mathematician's projector matrix to color vision and the representation-independent color theory.
