Summary:To the Editor.— I read with interest the article "Pediatric Emergencies" in the May 1990 issue of Pediatrics in Review.1 I wonder why the levels described in the article are the reverse of those commonly used. When we talk about level III in newborn intensive care units, we are talking about the highest level, and level I refers to the lowest level. Would it not make more sense to insist on a uniformity in these levels?
