Problems in Drawing Epidemiological Inferences by Fitting Epidemic Chain Models to Lumped Data
The common cold data presented by Heasman and Reid (1961, British Journal of Preventive and Social Medicine 15, 12-16) are analysed once more. Summary: | The common cold data presented by Heasman and Reid (1961, British Journal of Preventive and Social Medicine 15, 12-16) are analysed once more. It is shown that lumped chain frequencies cannot be interpreted satisfactorily by fitting various alternative epidemic chain models. In order to draw firm conclusions of epidemiological relevance it is necessary to take into account the true complexity of recorded data. |
