Summary:We show that ( o)-[ 82/77Br]bromohippuran ([ 82/77Br]-C 6H 4CONHCH 2COONa) with unlabelled ( o)-iodohippuran (I-C 6H 4CONHCH 2COONa) as carrier has in vivo properties analogous to ( o)-[ 131I]iodohippuran in rabbits and mice, while 77Br has some chemical, nuclidic and physiological advantages over 131I. This particular study was sufficiently encouraging to warrant a separate follow up study, currently in progress, with more advanced investigations on animals, while the main objective is eventual clinical trials, including whole body dosimetry studies.
