Abundance of Iron in the Solar Photosphere

Recent measurements of iron f -values indicate that the iron abundance derived from neutral iron lines formed in the solar photosphere based on older f -values should be increased by a factor of ∼5. This increase is partially offset if the damping constant is taken into account.
