Description
Summary:Techniques of nursing administration in a long-term care institution must be re-examined and tailored to meet the specific needs of the patient population. In contrast to the hospital, where medicine serves as the cornerstone of all care, nursing in the nursing home is the matrix of all activities. A dual-kardex system consisting of a specially modified nursing care plan and medication record is described here. In view of the extended stays of patients and the possibility of staff turnover, more specific material is included in the system than is generally the case. The additional information is helpful in ensuring continuity and comprehensiveness of care over a long term.
