A Filterable Agent in Throat Washings of Patients with Infectious Mononucleosis

Throat washings from six of seven patients with infectious mononucleosis contained a filterable agent(s) which converted an indicator lymphoid cell from negative to positive for antigen of Epstein-Barr virus as determined by the indirectimmunofluorescence test.
