Physiological Disposition of Fenoprofen in Man II: Plasma and Urine Pharmacokinetics after Oral and Intravenous Administration

Two studies of dl-2-(3-phenoxyphenyl)propionic acid or fenoprofen are described. In these studies, the pharmacokinetic parameters of fenoprofen administered orally and intravenously were compared first and then urine and plasma kinetics were compared. The results indicate that: (a) fenoprofen is rap...

Description
Summary:Two studies of dl-2-(3-phenoxyphenyl)propionic acid or fenoprofen are described. In these studies, the pharmacokinetic parameters of fenoprofen administered orally and intravenously were compared first and then urine and plasma kinetics were compared. The results indicate that: (a) fenoprofen is rapidly and efficiently absorbed from the GI tract; (b) fenoprofen is extensively metabolized, and it and its metabolites are rapidly eliminated from the body by the kidneys; and (c) good agreement exists between plasma and urinary kinetics.
