Summary: | An agar gel precipitin test was developed for detecting antigen and convalescent antibody associated with hemorrhagic enteritis of turkeys. The viral antigen, prepared from tissue of infected turkey spleen, is present in detectable amounts 4 days after intravenous inoculation of poults, and 6 days after cloacal inoculation. Antibody in serum of convalescent turkeys can be detected as early as 7 days after lesions appear and persists for at least 140 days. |
