Summary: | This article shows how dental needs, costs and treatment time vary in 288 randomly selected person 65 years of age and over in the City of Hamilton, Ontario depending on their state of edentulousness. The dental health practices of these older persons are examined and some influential factors identified. The findings suggest that developing facilities for providing care will not alone improve the oral health of older persons and that community dental screening and health education programs for older persons are indicated. |
