Biological and Phytochemical Evaluation of Plants XI: Isolation of Aspidospermine, Quebrachidine, Rhazinilam, (—)-Pyrifolidine, and Akuammidine from Aspidosperma Quebracho-blanco (Apocynaceae)
A phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco (Apocynaceae) resulted in the isolation of rhazinilam, a new nonindole lactam alkaloid, in addition to the known bases, aspidospermine, quebrachidine, (—)-pyrifolidine, and akuammidine. Aspidospermine and quebrachidine were...

Summary: | A phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco (Apocynaceae) resulted in the isolation of rhazinilam, a new nonindole lactam alkaloid, in addition to the known bases, aspidospermine, quebrachidine, (—)-pyrifolidine, and akuammidine. Aspidospermine and quebrachidine were the major leaf alkaloids. Akuammidine and (—)-pyrifolidine were isolated from the leaves for the first time, and the isolation of the latter compound confirms its natural occurrence in this plant. |
