Correlation between Y chromosome length and fluorescence intensity of Y chromatin on interphase nuclei

Results tend to show that the fluorescence characteristics of the Y chromosome are to a high degree reflected in the interphase nuclei, especially those occurring in lymphocytes. Description
Summary:Results tend to show that the fluorescence characteristics of the Y chromosome are to a high degree reflected in the interphase nuclei, especially those occurring in lymphocytes. The long Y chromosome has a large fluorescent segment in the long arm, which at interphase in small lymphocytes gives bright fluorescent Y chromatin close to nuclear membranes. In large lymphocytes the Y chromatin has a thin, double‐row structure, consisting of intensively fluorescent “spots”, and at the beginning of prophase these spots gather into larger units with bright fluorescence. The short Y chromosome with a small fluorescent segment also gives a small brightly fluorescent Y chromatin. The very short Y chromosome without a fluorescent segment has no Y chromatin in the interphase nuclei.
