Description
Summary:The annual average incidence in age groups of Hodgkin's disease in Ibadan, Nigeria, was discussed and histologic material from 227 cases in a 10-year period was classified according to the Rye system. Mixed cellularity was diagnosed in 104 (45.9%) patients, lymphocyte depletion in 84 (37.0%), lymphocyte predominant in 29 (12.7%), and nodular sclerosis in only 10 (4.4%). Hodgkin's disease appeared to be relatively frequent in children, excluding the preschool child and young adolescent girls. The impression was gained that the disease pursued a rapid and fulminating course in Ibadan.
