Description
Summary:In previous studies the benefits of the use of behavior modification techniques with the deaf have been demonstrated. In the present study the modification of mean length of response (MLR) was investigated. Four pre-school deaf children were placed on a program in which reinforcement was given for increased MLR. All four children showed increases during the reinforcement phases, indicating that reinforcement principles may be an efficient means of manipulating language behaviors. It was also noted that while MLR increased in the study, syntax of responses was erratic.
